With new commercial brake testing legislation coming into effect in April 2025, BS Trailers is committed to keeping your trailers compliant. At BS Trailers, we offer the only two brake testing systems that are approved by the DVSA – Laden Roller Brake Testing and Electronic Brake Performance Monitoring System (EBPMS) technology.
Coming Soon
Our newly-installed in-ground brake tester uses hydraulic lifting beds for accurate load simulation, and can lift axle loads of up to 16,000kg to 255mm above floor level. This system allows us to include roller brake testing with every service we perform.
We are authorised providers of Axscend’s TrailerMaster software, which contains a patented EBPMS system.
This solution monitors every braking event as it happens, recording it on an easy-to-read graph against the DVSA pass mark, so you can track performance on your rented trailers and stay compliant at all times.
Decades of expertise keeping HGV fleets roadworthy, compliant, and safe.
Skilled professionals ensuring precise, DVSA-compliant brake testing for all trailer types.
The only DVSA-approved brake testing systems for ultimate compliance.
Keeping wheels moving for over 30 years.

FOR ALL YOUR BRAKE TESTING QUERIES
Effective from April 2025, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will implement updated regulations for trailer brake testing to enhance road safety and ensure consistent braking performance across commercial fleets. The key changes include:
Regular brake testing is crucial to maintain vehicle safety, prevent brake failures, and comply with legal obligations. It helps identify potential issues before they lead to accidents or costly repairs.
It depends on your fleet’s needs. Laden Roller Brake Testing gives a direct, proven measurement of braking performance but requires scheduled tests and downtime. EBPMS offers real-time monitoring, reducing the need for physical tests, but requires an initial investment in hardware and training. From April 2025, either method will be accepted for compliance, so the best choice depends on your operational setup.
Trailer brake testing evaluates the performance and efficiency of a trailer’s braking system to ensure it meets safety standards and regulatory requirements.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) recommends that trailers undergo brake testing at least four times per year, including during the annual MOT. From April 2025, it is expected that a laden roller brake test or an Electronic Braking Performance Monitoring System (EBPMS) will be the only accepted methods to assess brake performance.
